Here's a video that made me laugh and reflect on my childhood:
When I was a kid, I never knew what crayon colour to use when I wanted to colour skin. According to Crayola, "nude" was the skin colour. But, I wasn't that pink. Someone told me to use "apricot" or "peach," but I wasn't that orangy red or reddish orange. I was told that Chinese people are referred to as "yellow," but I took one look at that crayon and knew right away that wasn't my skin colour either.
In a way, I'm glad that my students today still have trouble figuring out what colour they should use in a self-portrait. It's just not that black and white (and yellow and red and brown) after all.
